Hey there, Jackholes and long time listeners! Let's talk about my recent escapade to the glittering city of Las Vegas. Expecting nothing but a week of neon lights and the c-note chiming of slot machines, little did I know, I was in for a marathon of a different kind – a walking one!
Imagine walking enough to make your fitness tracker do a double-take. The first day alone we walked over 24,000 steps. That's nearly 9.5 miles! We averaged 15k to 20k steps per day for the first three days. And, as we all know, Producer Ron's not a SMALL fellow. From the Strip to Fremont Street, my feet were practically their own tour guides. I discovered hidden gems and, of course, the occasional Elvis impersonator. It was less 'Viva Las Vegas' and more 'I need a foot massage!'... or 'Can't I just sit the hell down somewhere?!'
While the family and I were gallivanting in Vegas, 'ol Brad held the fort back home. Rumor has it, the shows last week were a mix of chaos and hilarity without my daily calming presence (or so I like to think). Missing the show and the listeners/viewers tugged at my heartstrings, but I knew Brad had it on lock and would do fine without me.
Being away from the microphone always gives me a new perspective. The buzz of Vegas is much like the energy of a live broadcast – unpredictable, exciting, and sometimes a little overwhelming. But, I realized that whether it’s Vegas shows or our radio show, it's all about keeping the audience entertained. Speaking of being entertained, it was fantastic to get to see Toby and Chris (affectionately known as "The Tobys") while we were in town. These guys are great supporters of the show and have been friends for many years.
So, what did I learn from my Vegas trip? Apart from the fact that comfy shoes are a must and I'm too damn fat, it's that taking a break is essential. We all need to do it once-in-a-while. It refreshes your soul and gives you hilarious stories to share.
We also got to gamble (if that's what you want to call it) for 19 of our listeners. And, yes, believe it or not they were picked at random from those that texted the phrase Brad provided in the Wednesday show. No one became rich, but just the thought of hitting it big for someone was exciting. Maybe we'll try again in the future. :)
Can't wait for the next adventure – who knows, maybe Brad will join me next time, and we'll broadcast live from a gondola in the Venetian, or better yet, Planet 13 (look it up)!
Looks like you had fun
Yeah! Looks like you had a blast🌺🤙🏼
Thanks for sharing!!
For any Jackhole that visits Las Vegas, please reach out either through this platform or @mcevoytm on X. We'd be happy to meet up with you in person and share some food and drink if possible.
Sounds like it was a well deserved break, yet happy to have you back Ron!
